About Us

The Plough at Eastbury

Situated one and a half miles from Lambourn. The Plough at Eastbury is a hidden gem in this beautiful unspoilt rural village nestled in the heart of “The Valley of the Racehorse”. Where the River Lambourn flows through and fresh water trout are visible in the clear spring water. The pub dates from the 18th Century, c1750 and was believed to be a busy coaching inn. Probably gets its name from a horse drawn plough of a strong farming community, although we would prefer to think that it originates from the star constellation, as ‘The Plough', on a clear summer evening shines out magnificently, directly overhead.

The pub itself has a refreshing friendly feel with food and service to match. The present owners of this freehold establishment are Dennis and Madeleine White, who in October 2006 celebrated their ten year milestone. This is very much a family run establishment of long standing proprietors and staff alike, which allows us to add touches to your overall visit that you don't always get elsewhere.

Our newly refurbished Gallery Restaurant presently features work by the renowned photographer, Tobi Corney and compliments our new menu with freshly prepared dishes such as: Brixham Crab and Saffron Risotto; Thai Duck and Orange Salad; Spring Rump of Lamb Stilton Savoy Cabbage; or something more wholesome like slow cooked Beef and Guinness Pie or local sourced steak and chips. An extensive wine list is available, created for us by Berry Brothers as well as a range of local real ales.

Whatever your choice, your will always be offered a warm and friendly welcome at The Plough.
